I will be applying to dental school in June 2013. However, I plan to ask my profs for LORs as early as the end of next semester, and just have LORs stored with a service like Interfolio. That way, when it comes time to apply, I'll already have all my LORs ready-to-go, and wont have to wait on anyone who may be slow at sending their to AADSAS.

Has anybody done this, or have experience with Interfolio storing you letters long term? Would I be better off using my undergrad schools letter service?

Yes, I did use Interfolio.

I am not really happy with the service. I had to call them almost everyday for a week to get my Letters go through. Even though, aadsas didn't accept one of my letters because my prof didn't sign the letter. I had to tell my prof to update it directly to aadsas.

But its a good way to store your letters. Good luck with your application.

I used this and I loved it! I only had 1 problem and thats when I needed a prof to update their letter. Otherwise, its amazing and I truly recommend it. You can use it to store your letters for a long time this way if you dont get into d-school in 2013, you can reuse the same letters for the 2014 cycle. It will prevent you from having to find your professors all over again and deal with that nonsense. In my mind its $20 well spent. Look at dentalworks' threads on how to use Interfolio with AADSAS, but expect great results!

I used it and I had no problems. So easy! They even have a blog entry on how to use Interfolio for AADASAS

I used interfolio for my LORs. On a scale of 1-10 I give it a 5... which is exactly in the middle.

Pros:
-You can store your letters for an extended amount of time once they are submitted. Considering that I am currently only on wait-lists and without acceptances I know that i will be using their service again. I dk of any other company out there that provides this service.

Cons:
- They are not reliable! I had multiple problems with deliveries to AADSAS that took WAY WAY WAY too long and had a major impact on the date my file was complete. I was very upset and customer service tried to make up for it by delivering them free of charge. However those small fees did not in any way make up for the delay.

If I was you...
I would ask my professors to write the letter and submit one copy to AADSAS and another copy to Interfolio. This way you dont have to count on Interfolio to deliver but still have your letters stored for the future.

I like'd interfolio... I started collecting LORs like 2 years before applying.

When AADSAS time came around, I didn't have to run around like a maniac tracking down professors for LORs.... it was a smooth transaction for me.

Other advantage is, in the unfortuate case you have to reapply, you can simply resubmit LORs the next cycle. Versus having to (again) track down professors before AADSAS opens up.

And don't forget, many professors take summer vacations, just around the time AADSAS opens up
