I'm using interfolio to store LOR for next cycle.

I was wondering, when I request letters do they HAVE to be confidential? Or can they not be, so I can read and pick which ones are the strongest to send. I'm having three profs write me a letter, 1 employer (who is already confidential), and 1 dentist. I also potentially have an orthodonist, but I will probably only use that in the scenario where I have to send schools a letter of intent.

So do they have to be confidential?

Yes. All letters are 'confidential' so you won't be able to see what they wrote. Unless... your professor told you to write your own letter of rec and send it to them so they can submit it. That is very rare.

So to confirm: when you’re requesting a letter through interfolio, you marked that it must be confidential?

All you have to do is request your professors a letter of recommendation through interfolio which will automatically be sent to their emails. And there's nothing to mark on interfolio. All letters are confidential.
