When I graduated high school the last math class was precalculus math which i got a B in now that it has been 2 years since I've done any kind of math I took a placement test and a Community College and I scored pretty low. So now I have been placed in Intermediate Algebra this coming semester. Has anyone had to start at Algreba or lower again. It makes med school seem so far away.🙁

Should just mean one or two extra math classes, right? (college algebra, then calc?) Don't let that get you down. It really isn't a problem in the long run.

Just be glad you didn't place into Advanced Algebra (or commonly referred to as simply 'Algebra') which is a 400 level math class about all sorts of cool stuff (I could never get up the gall to take anything past Complex Analysys which was rather a joke at my school).
But seriously, if you have to take an Algebra/Pre-Calculus class in college, that should really only add one more math class, assuming this transitions in Calculus I. That being said, a lot of schools so far as I know only require one semester of Calculus, although at my school they required a full year. Some will take one semester of Calculus and one of Statistics or some combination like that (a course on statistics at some level is probably good a good idea). So I don't think it should have any consequences, serious or otherwise, on your college education.
<I started out in Calculus I and ended up with a minor in mathematics as well as majoring in English and had no problem scheduling/fitting in the premed prerequisites also>

So many students take calculus in undergrad thinking that medical schools require it. Presently, only a handful of schools require that you take it....and most that do are ivy league schools. Regular college algebra coupled with a course in statistics should be fine for most applicants.

Shooto2000,
You needn't worry too much about having to take that extra math class. If I'm not mistaken College Algebra should be the next class in the sequence. One extra class is nothing but a trifle. If that is your case. I am in the same situation as you, but I believe I'm worse off. When I decided to start classes at my local CC, I too had to take a placement test. I was expecting to bomb the math section and did just that. It came as no surprise to me. Since I never even took Geometry in highschool--gotta love the Chicago Public School system. The low score secured me a spot in Essentials of Arithmetic. That class was a cakewalk, but the teacher who taught part-time at the CC was also a full time 6th grade math teacher. She had the tendency to treat us like her grammar school kids. That was quite an experience. I am still working my way up the math ladder. So, if it's the case that you only need to take one extra class, ace it and you'll be in college algebra before you know it.

I had the same exact situation. I did awesome in math in HS but forgot most when I went back to college. I got placed in INT Algebra which I saw as a major insult.

In the end it worked well.

Take INT, then College Algebra (make sure it is a pre-calc course), then take Statistics.

That is what I have done and it worked well.
