I'm trying to figure out what is the best way for me to go about getting my license right now. I understand I have to be enrolled into a program first (which I am). The problem arises with while I have accepted an offer of acceptance, I'm still not sure I'm going there. I won't know if I've been accepted into my top choice for at least a month still. Should I wait until I know for sure where I'm going, or can I get by license through the school i've been accepted at even though I might not end up going there? The reason I ask is that there are some major financial incentives for getting my license ASAP (50% raise being among them 🙂).

Is your top choice in a different state or the same state?

I think it depends on the state. In my state, one has only to be accepted to a COP. In others, one has to enroll (different than being accepted) or complete a certain amount of coursework. You need to check your state requirements.

It looks like my state requires that I be enrolled in a COP (there is some paper work the school has to fill out and return). I guess i should probably will wait till i know where I'm going, but I was wondering what the consequences might be if i was to get my license through the school I am technically enrolled in now but ended up attending elsewhere. They don't really seem to address that on the licensing website (Indiana is the state I'm looking at getting the license in).

I'd call your state board and ask. All I had to show was my admissions letter. But if your school has to fill something out, the school may make you wait until you actually enroll (pay tuition, register for class, etc). But that's all speculation on my part. Call the board.

Ok, will do.
