I am planning to do internship with CVS in Philly and I heard that P1 gets $10.50/hr to begin with. WTH.

I saw few threads in the past and they all started like at least $12.50. Is this bc Philly is so damn saturated with pharm students? $10.50 is like 8 dollars after being taxed. Is this a joke?

My 2 cents: the greater benefit of internships is the experience and improved job prospects- $2/hr one way or the other shouldn't have much effect on the net benefit. When it comes to internships positions you aren't really in a position to bargain anyway.

I agree with PharmEcon - experience is better than pay. I got paid significantly more as an intern though P1-$13/hr and increased $1 every year Target in TX.

Kansas City Area
P1-13
P2-14
P3-15.50
P4-somewhere between 16-17

Yes, you are right in some part. Yet, we have to get treated right for our labor (you know how CVS treats you like just another technician). If it is all about experience and everything, there shouldn't be any difference in wage among CVS national-wide. I know we cannot change anything and just gotta suck it up but i just wanted to hear some opinions.

1PD 12.55. Which is actually what I was making as a tech so I didn't see a pay bump. 🙁 but should when I have my eval this year.

GOOD LUCK!

That's after you graduate and you have accepted an offer with the company. You get paid as a graduate-intern. It's half the salary of a pharmacist.

Philly Targets pay ~16.00 an hour. Hospitals at around the same +\- a couple bucks.

And yes, Philly has 3 schools within 5 miles of each other. It is very much oversaturated with pharmacy students.

I got ~$12/hr as a P1, and around ~$15/hr as a P2 (different companies).

Hospitals in my area pay a lot more occasionally though; I've heard of $22/hour for P3s.

we pay our interns (hospital) the same as a tech - well, because they are a tech, here wer do not differentiate. Now we do have several volunteers that we get to do grunt work, the joy of the pharmacist "shortage" people are willing to donate their time to get their name in a pot in hopes we give them a residency or job after school

Be happy you were able to get an internship in a saturated area. Work hard and open yourself up to the opportunity of being offered a position upon graduation. This will be worth much more than $1-2/hour extra. Also, from a business standpoint, as a P1 you offer little to the company over any other tech. Be happy you get payed more than them. I am certain they won't be seeing $1 dollar/year raises
