Internal job transfer question

So I am a recent graduate within the past few years working as a decentralized clinical pharmacist at a large teaching hospital (within a large hospital system) in a rural area. There is currently a job posting in a desirable area where I want to live that I have applied for within the company. I was interviewed recently for this position by HR internally and they are forwarding my information to the hiring manager for further consideration. I have not spoken either verbally or written with this individual yet. Would it be a good idea to shoot this hiring manager in email for a self-intro to find out more about the position or would it be better to wait and let it play out?

If you have a good relationship with your current supervisor, it might be more important to talk to them so they aren't blindsided by a call for a reference.

I have a pretty good relationship with my current supervisor and I already let them know that I am looking around. I have been interviewed by HR already recently and just wondering if it would be appropriate to email the hiring manager to give an intro or better to wait until HR does their thing before doing so.
