I'm an intl applicant for this year's MD/PhD cycle (from Canada). Several schools have gotten interview notifications back to me in a similar time-frame as people have listed in the interview thread - Penn for example only took 3 weeks.

However, a vast proportion of the schools I applied to have not gotten back to me for over 2 months, whereas in the interview thread they seemed to have gotten back to people in under a month. The schools include: Stony Brook, Northwestern, BU, Tufts, Einstein, Sinai, Baylor. I don't mind waiting but I'm wondering if this is symptomatic of something: is this common for applications that are on the fence, or is it only endemic to intl applicants?

Tufts and Einstein took about 3 months before they gave me an interview invite with just a notification that I was complete about 2 weeks after I submitted. I haven't received any word at all from Baylor, NW, or Sinai, so I think everyone is in a similar boat (or at least from the standpoint of an applicant with mediocre stats)

sinai just replied back with an interview invite after 2 and half months of waiting, so you might be close.

i asked a few friends, and they told me that they know certain schools separate intl applicants from regulars. just need to find out which... 😛
