Hi all,

I'm an international student from the Philippines, I'm finishing my BS Psychology undergrad degree this March from the (arguably) best psych school in the country, and hopefully finishing with a 3.5 cumulative QPI. I'm really interested in having a Clinical PsyD in Neuropsychology, and have interned (for 2 months) with the only licensed neuropsychologist we have here. I'm planning to take a year off after I graduate to train further under her and then I'm planning to apply to grad schools in the US since we don't have that track (neuropsych) here yet.

My questions are:
1. Would it be better to spend my 1-2 years off having my masters degree instead of working in the clinic? I wouldn't want to do both at the same time since I might not be able to concentrate on either one 🙂
2. What are my chances of actually getting in a neuropsych program? I'm really interested in the PGSP-Stanford PsyD Consortium.
3. Any other suggestions to up my chances of getting in? 🙂

Thanks for your help! 😛

1: No. You have the right idea -- the clinic is the better choice. Plus, you'll be making money (sort of...) rather than spending money on a Master's!

Can't help you too much with the other questions, but thought I'd pitch in where I could 🙂 It sounds like you're very much on the right track. Good luck!

Thought about that too. I was just worried that students with master's degrees might have an edge since concepts are a lot more fresh in their minds. Thanks! 😛

I got a master's a few months ago and let me assure you that the only thing fresh on my mind is my fresh mind.

But I'm older, so that may have to do with the gradual decline of recall which begins at 30 last I heard ...

So all I have to do now is to finish grad sch before I turn 30, and I'll be all set😀 Thanks for your reply!
