International Summer Research

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
The stipend that would get, even if you could find one, would probably only cover the travel expenses or may even be less. I haven't seen anyone do a foreign program though.

Not true.. LOOK INTO THE INTERNATION RESEARCH TRAINING PROGRAMS OF FOGARTY INternational Center of the NIH.... http://www.fic.nih.gov/
the one i did was 8 weeks in Mali (West Africa). they paid for all of my meals, airfare, lodging, immunizations, etc.. plus i think a $1500 stipend when i finished my final report..it was an AMAZING experience!!!! check it out!!! 👍 👍 👍

From what I know, the Fogarty International Center program is available to undergraduate students in the form of the Minority International Research Training program... (you know if you are eligible for this program 🙂) I actually spent two undergraduate summers in Ecuador doing medical anthropology/public health research, supported by research awards at the University of Virginia. Both paid not only for travel expensies, but meals, lodging, immunizations, etc. I ended up using some money to found a non-profit organization, and even had money left that I had to return to the University! Does your University have any undergraduate research awards available to apply for?

I don't qualify for the NIH program. I'll see if my college has such things. Thanks for the info.
