Hello all-

I'm an MSIV with MPH in global health, interested in EM/international medicine. I would really like to be involved in some sort of international work during residency. Does anyone know of EM programs where this is possible?

Thanks! 🙂

If you go to a program with an EM fellowship, then you'll know that their attendings and fellows will be traveling year-round. Otherwise, you just have to ask during interview day if the program has strong relationships with any particular hospital or community outside of the states.

Be warned that some county programs will have to take you off their payroll if you work overseas, or do any non-affiliated away rotations for that matter. That shouldn't stop you from training there if you love it, but you should know beforehand.

A number of our residents do international work and we have two global health fellows starting july1.

FLmed, I sent you a PM. I would have posted publicly if I had known about this thread.
So why not repost your PM here? I have a real interest in this topic and I'm sure others do as well...

Actually if you do a search for international related topics in this forum, you will see that I've already posted a lot of information on the topic. (I would only be reposting stuff that's already available on here.)
