I heard people saying that it increases our chance of acceptence if we worked as a dentist assitance.
But how can we become dentist assitances? We don't have any experiences. I don't think they will make us do the surgery or something....

I know that I am ignorant, but help me here. I wanna do anything that can help me in the future.

so....If i just call any dentists around me and ask if they need dentist assitance, is that my 1st step?
won't they ask, something like, " Did u go to dental school yet? " things like that?

and for last...if we help them(whatever that help is...-_-😉 do we get paid?

Basically, unless you are willing to work full-time or you are related to a dentist, you aren't going to get a job as an assistant. Just call your dentist and ask to shadow him a couple times, and maybe go work at your local free clinic.

dont worry steve. this forum is a great tool for practicing patient education; if you know what i mean.

joonkimdds;
yes, it is good to have worked as a dental assistant, it exposes you to a lot if aspects of dentistry and puts you ahead of the game in the dental school. Just like taking a class that somewhat overlaps with a class you have taken previousely (overly simplified analogy). To become a dental assitant, many start shadowing their dentists and are sometimes offered a position.. some go and get a certificate in it. Many dentists want to train their own assistants since things are usually ran differently from office to office.

this forum is great for ego boosting, because I come here, read stuff, and think, damn, at least I'm not as incompetent as ______ .
