Some of you may have noticed that there is an Internship/Prelim Year thread on SDN... I perused it a little, but it wasn't very helpful because most of the information pertains to specialties with more than 200 applicants a year. My question is whether or not it would be useful to start a similar thread, but make it specific to RadOnc applicants? I know that internship is a very small part of our training, but an important one nevertheless which can quickly turn from tolerable to miserable. As prospective radiation oncologists are often among the more competitive applicants, perhaps it would be useful to have a little extra information before making a choice for internship? In the spirit of full disclosure:

1. I am super bitter about my own internship and want to vent. However, I know how this community loves a good mud-slinging.
2. I couldn't find an existing thread pertaining to this topic, but I didn't look exhaustively... apologies if I am being redundant.

The FAQ and prelim medicine vs prelim surgery vs transitional year topic (to which I contributed) were both much more helpful than the general SDN Internship thread, but each are more general than I was envisioning. Perhaps something with specifics about individual programs, broken down by region? I don't know... maybe its not useful?

I ended up using a thread on the ophthalmology forum that was really helpful. I think the biggest challenge with intern year is that every ones priorities are different, and by comparison to Rad Onc there are TONS of options.

I'd be happy to share my thoughts on the TY's and prelim's I interviewed at, but it will only a drop in the bucket of whats available!
