Hello every one,
This is my very first thread. I have been around reading lots of posts and discussion though and by far this is the most informative site that i've came across, this is awesome. However, i seem to have one question that it seems that i haven't found any thing related to it. Currently, i am working on my Bio degree plan to go to UT Memphis. So far I have a year in retail and two years in hospital pharmacy experience. Well, my concern is that when I start pharmacy school do I need to start internship right away? Does my previous experience help me start the intership later, may be second year or work only during summer? How does it work? Any input is greatly appreciated.

Welcome 🙂
Once you start pharmacy school, you can start working on getting intern hours done whenever you want. I didn't do any during my first year, but I"m going to start now. Depending on the state, you have a certain amount of hours that you have to do while you're in pharmacy school. None of your previous experience can count towards these hours because you probably worked as a tech/clerk then, not intern.

Fair-enough, thanx a lot.

ERIRX-

congrats on at UT..it's a great school..kind of biased, because I go there..but anyways..as far as internship hours are concerned..for UT..the majority of the 2000 hrs come from rotations..i think we need something like 450 hrs total..most people in my class(i just finished my 1st year) are doing there's the summer after their first year....I am going to do mine next summer...you can do your internship out of state..you just have to get it approved..but I work in the hospital right now, and that would even count for your internship hours..

I know this post if kind of confusing..but if you have any questions, just reply or PM me

See you in the fall(i'm assuming that's when you're starting)
