Internships Offering DBT Training

Hi all,

Probably as a sign that I'm antsy to get out of here, I have been looking at internship sites that I might be interested in applying to. One of my big interests is DBT, and I am looking for sites that offer rotations or training in it beyond just offering the chance to conduct skills training groups.

I've found a few sites already, but would really appreciate if anyone knows of any additional ones. Thanks as always!

I'm pretty sure Minneapolis VA has a DBT rotation. Palo Alto, Seattle VA, and McLean might as well but I'm less confident on those.

Like you said, plenty of places offer limited training (groups or individual but not full model).

Minneapolis VA does. A professor of mine did it and talks about what great experience it gives.

You'll find more "DBT-informed" training options as opposed to full DBT programs, since the resources for the latter can be harder to find.

Check out the Durham VA. They have a Women's Health Center rotation with a full DBT program (you're on call during business hours).

Also, I think Brown has one as well.

University of Mississippi Medical Center has a DBT rotation run by Kim Gratz. You can also get some DBT experience on other rotations.

UCSD/San Diego VA has DBT training in the mood disorders rotation. From what I remember, the other half of that rotation is in the Military Sexual Trauma clinic, where DBT is regularly integrated into treatment.

No idea if they offer training, but I know University of Washington, Seattle Children's Hospital, Harbor-UCLA, and UCLA are all doing a trial of DBT that isn't slotted to end until 2015. It might be worth investigating!

Mass Mental Health Center and Columbia University Medical Center (adult track) offer DBT rotations or part-time placements - will try to think of others.

Southern Illinois University's internship has a great training program, DBT being one of the options. It essentially runs one of the few counseling center based DBT programs.
