Anyone have any experience with this?

I'm looking for a move soon, probably preceded by some out of state locums work, and am considering this in lieu of applying directly for a new license. It seems as though it would be slightly more expensive for the initial (ie second) license (although any subsequent licenses obtained through it may be cheaper, as they "only" charge a $100 handling fee after the first one).

Also, it's unclear to me whether you get a full, 'normal' license to practice in the new state, or whether it's still dependant on holding a license in the SPL. In other words, could I apply for a new state license, work part time in a new state for a few months, and then move full time there and keep practicing (dependant on normal license renewal). Or, would I then need to get another license from that state once I left my SPL.

Thanks!

I'm not familiar with this. Can you give further information?
Interstate Medical Licensure Compact | A faster pathway to medical licensure

Program where you apply for a new medical license through your existing state board, in order to streamline the process. $700 application fee + the charge of the new license (so probably a few extra hundred compared to most app fees I've seen). About half of the states seems to be participating thus far. If you need a second license through them, they on charge a $100 handling fee if it's within 365 days of the initial, and it's supposed to get handled pretty quickly

If anyone's wondering, I was able to find a faq through the AMA that you do receive a full, unrestricted license in the new state but I'm still not sure exactly how renewals are handled. I contacted the compact and will update once I hear back
