It is VERY strongly advised that if you get an interview invitation, do respond as soon as possible. All programs have a finite number of spaces available and will not hold spaces for you if they do not hear from you. The presumption is that you are not interested in interviewing at that program. Do NOT start rearranging you schedule to fit in an interview date until you have made sure that you have snagged that date. Coodinators cannot read minds.

Also, very important. Please cancel well ahead of time if you do not plan on going on an interview. One week in not adequate. Two weeks is fine. Please keep in mind that there are people out there who would dearly love an interview at certain programs and they need time to make travel plans. Programs need to prepare paperwork and organize interview days. If you cancel last minute and leave a hole in the interview schedule for a program, it will be remembered and come back to bite you if you apply for a fellowship there. Consideration is the key here.

Word for the wise!!!

Last year, I waited 4 hours to respond to an interview invite but was told all the slots were full by the time I called. I ended up on the interview wait list.
