I have a UCLA interview in three weeks and I wanna get in obviously. Unfortunately I'm no longer in school so I don't have an adviser I can get interview advice from. I'm considering paying $$ for practice interviews, but I'm nervous that I won't get my money's worth....Plus I'm poor so unless the 300$ interview guarantees and acceptance they can kiss it. What should I do? Is there anywhere I can go that's 100% worth the money or are their groups that do free practice interviews? Please help!!!!!!!!!!

Why don't you see if the career center at your school does mock interviews. Most will do it as long as you're an alumni. I had one at my school it was pretty great, they even video tape you so you can look back over it as they give you suggestions on what to improve. Though it is kind of weird watching yourself on t.v. 😛

Here's an example of some questions you may be asked.

I tried to think of questions and come up with at least some basic ideas of how to answer them. Write out some bullet points and then practice answering the questions in a concise manner. Video tape would be good as well.

I wasn't very nervous as I have a lot of professional experience both interviewing and being interviewed. I just treated it as any other. Just prepare some answers and have some interesting questions that demonstrate you've done some research on the school. For example: I'm interested in how XYZ curriculum prepares students for the boards, etc.
Try to find a way to sell your strengths even when you are asking questions.

Overall you just want to leave the impression that you'd be a good fit and that you would excel in their program.

Thanks so much for the advice. I have a friend who interviewed students at UCI Med, so he's gonna do a practice with me. Honestly, I think my biggest problem is that I can't articulate my answers well. I practice, but I really have to work on my public speaking.

If anyone has more advice keep it coming...PS I went to FAQ but I couldn't find anything to do with interviewing. I searched interview advice and it said nothing matches.

😕 I used the links I wrote - are you sure you went to the FAQ at the top of the Re-App forum? Oh well. Just click here.
