I have an interview at KCOM this week. I would love to get in there; this is my #1 choice school. Any advice? What are the odds at KCOM (#of people accepted vs. #of people interviewed). I would appreciate any help.

Hey, my name is Amit and I interviewed at KCOM about a month ago. Luckily, I received an acceptance 8 days later. If you want to talk about the interview day via e-mail or even on the phone, just e-mail [email protected] and we'll take it from there.

Overall, just go over your application, because they'll pull out a few of your activities and discuss them with you. Just relax and try to maintain a light-hearted yet professional tone. You'll figure the rest out as you go. Whatever you do, do NOT give them one of these looks: 🙁 😳 😡 +pissed+

These numbers are a few years old, but they're probably a good guide:

Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine
# Applications: 4,577
# Interviewed: 458
Class Size: 145
Out of State: 90%
Tuition: $24,400
Student Fees: NR
GPA: 3.41
MCAT: Verbal ? 9.0 Physical ? 9.0 Biological ? 9.5

GOOD LUCK!

bokimbo,
Congrats on your interview! KCOM is a wonderful school. As for advice for the interview, be prepared for a conversational tone in all three of your interviews. I have never heard of the profs or docs to fire questions at you, try to grill you or to make you feel uncomfortable in any way. Also be prepared for a long day; of my interviews, KCOM went the longest. The two main interviews are about an hour each (they really want to get to know you). There is a long tour of the school/facilities so be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes. One thing I really enjoyed during my KCOM interview was the interaction with current students. Take the time to do this if at all possible! You will really get a feel for the 'pulse' of the school. There is a program which allows you to stay with students rather thn at a hotel and that way you can really get a good idea about life at KCOM. One of the reasons I choose KCOM was because of the students I spoke with at the interview. I am currently a student at Kirksville so please email me if you have any questions. Best of luck!

congrats,

my advice is be prepared. I had a good experience, not great. I love the school and am very happy to go there, but was worn out after the interview day. I interviewed at UHS and it was a nice relaxing experience. However, I am going to invest well over $100,000 dollars into a school, I want to know that the people in my class worked there ass off to get there. Don't worry its not that bad but I had one interview that drilled me pretty good. You'll have two one hour, one on one interviews. I have great stats, I think he was just trying to get more info out of me inorder to assure my acceptance. My favorite question was," If you are accepted to KCOM will come here next year." I wanted to yell HELL YEAH, but I figured that wasn't a good idea. the interview was long, but great things don't come easy. Good luck, and I hope to see you in August.

cutty😛 😛

Thanks guys. I'll keep in mind everything you've said, and hopefully, I'll be looking for an apartment in Kirksville in a few weeks.
