Hello,

I received an interview for Marshall University. I am very excited, but I am looking for some further explanation on their accreditation. It says on their website they are a candidate for CAPTE accreditation but they are not yet accredited. What does this mean for the students that get accepted and then attend PT school there? Will going to this program have an impact on being licensed at the end of the DPT program?

In order to be licensed, is it required that the student attend a CAPTE accredited program?

Anyone else have an interview here and thinking the same thing?

Hey mitherapy,

Candidate for accreditation is what every school has to go through when they first start out. Basically what it means is that the program is under evaluation and won't become accrediated until the first class graduates assuming the meet certain criteria. If you are the first class that will attend then you won't know if you can sit for NPTE until the very end. If you are 2nd or 3rd class then you will know either your second year or the end of your first year. To restate the school has to be accreditated in order for you to sit for NPTE. I wouldn't be to worried about this. I don't know of any programs that don't get accrediated. Marshall is a well-known university and shouldn't have trouble meeting the criteria.

Thank you for this information. I plan on attending this interview. Anybody else hear from this school about an interview?

I received an interview invite last week but declined. I'm sure they will develop a solid program, it's a good school with a nice reputation in my opinion. Good luck.

I'll be interviewing there too. Does anyone know what the interview process is like there??

I'll be doing a phone interview sometime in January, since I can't make it to the 1/5 interview (I have another interview on that day and time that I've already scheduled). I plan on asking them about the candidacy for accreditation and how it will affect me if I do attend.

My interview is on 1/7. That's a good question to ask. I think they'll be alright with getting accredited and everything.

I have an interview there on 1/8! It will only be my second DPT interview. My first one is Monday at Shenandoah!

Hey! Anyone here have an interview at Marshall yet? I have one this Monday was wondering what it is going to be like. Thanks!

Hello. I have an interview with Marshall University DPT on January 8th. I am not sure what to expect during the interview process. Has anyone had an interview yet that could help out some future interviewees?
Thanks!

I interviewed there on Monday 1/7. It was really laid back!! The only time you are one on one with a professor you just review your application file. No really serious questions or anything. Good luck!

I am curious if this thread is still alive.. I have an interview at Marshall in January and was wondering what to really expect. Hopefully its still alive, or maybe there are some other people that could give me some insight. Thanks!
