Interview at Univ of Iowa?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I'm in state. I'm waiting for my MCAT scores, but my file was complete I think 9/21 or around there. I think they started giving invites for interviews in october, so hopefully we will hear soon. Good Luck to you.

They reported me complete on 9/14, and I'm waiting too.

I believe they said that they were starting to interview in mid-october. I am still waiting for one LOR but I have my interview scheduled at the end of October.

Good luck with the standardized interview. It seemed so less personal than any other interview, but what do you expect from the academic test-center of the world.

Hi. How did you get an interview with one LOR to go? Are you complete? Good Luck to you!

To my knowledge, the first day of interviews is Monday, October 11th. They do offer interviews to those who are not complete yet.

Isn't that weird they offer interviews to people who aren't complete yet when its rolling admissions?

From my experience with state schools (2 of them) both will offer interviews before secondaries are complete. I am still learning as I go.

i got an invite there about 1-2 weeks after my file was complete.

although, i think from the invite email they sent me, a complete file wasn't necessary to receive an interview. don't really remember.

i guess i'm interviewing the first day. is this a good thing/bad thing? i was thinking if they really liked me maybe they would accept me by the 15th. haha, unlikely i guess.

anyone else going to be there tomorrow?

Yeah, I think that is a pretty unlikely turn around.

Don't they wait until March to give out acceptances or is this wrong?

You either get accepted right away in the rollilng admissions phase(through January sometime) or you go into the final pool, and all of those decisions are given out in mid-march sometime. From what I knew last year while applying, more out of state are accepted during the rolling admissions than in-state. Almost every in-state person I knew was pushed back into the "final pool". I think they know that they can wait for the in-staters because they are more likely to attend. but they try to grab the qualified out-of-staters earlier on.

Pretty much if you don't hear back within one month or so of your interview, you're more than likely in the final pool which will receive a decision in march.

Thanks for the info!

That is disheartening to Iowa residents
