Alright, I got an interview at Touro-NV and Im pretty excited about it. However, Im a lil worried I'll get grilled or asked about why I didnt apply to Touro-CA. I know it would make since to apply to the main AND the branch campus but I honestly have no desire whatsoever to live in Cali. Even if its for 2 years for preclinical work. Im afraid this is not that great of an answer though, should I be prepared to be asked about this?

Thanks

Hey, DiverDoc,

I'm an applicant this cycle, too, so I am not the most qualified person to answer, but I don't think you should feel the need to have a compelling answer beyond what you said above. First of all, location is an important aspect in choosing a medical school for most people, as it should be. You're going to be spending four long years there, so you don't want to hate the location or you'll be miserable.

Also, if they grill people on this, it should go both ways... If they start asking those at the branch campuses why not the originating campus, then they should ask those who apply to the originating campus why they didn't apply to the branch to be fair. I doubt that they would do that, but I don't know.

For what it's worth, I also applied to Touro-NV and not Touro-CA for the same reason.

I don't know how helpful that was but I wanted to share my 2 cents.

Good luck on your interview! 🙂

There's no way they would ask why you didn't apply to California. Even if they did, you could tell them the truth - that you don't want to live there. No big deal.
