Today is still Monday! as a fellow 0er im glad to see 0 is leading the way lol....is today supposed to be the big week for a lot of schools?

You always see stuff like... "they had 6 interviews and 2 acceptances" and it always freaks me out because would think that it would say something like "they had 6 interviews and 5 acceptances"
I guess I thought interviews were like.... don't look like an idiot, and you'll probably get accepted.
What is the chance of getting rejections from all schools if you have 4 interviews?

It really depends on the schools you interview with. They range from schools that interview to accept (UoP), to schools that accept most of their interviewed students (Tufts instate), to schools that accept fewer (Nova, Pitt OOS).
However, even if the odds are in your favor, you still have to have a satisfactory interview to win an acceptance. My personal biggest fear would be interviewing at a school like Tufts and being one of the handful of MA residents they interview but reject.
Professional school interview odds are still better than job interviews right now. I'm in my gap year right now. When applying for entry-level research jobs (=extremely high turnover; lots of openings), I only received 3 offers after interviewing at 8+ places.

offtopic..but im in a gap year as well and going to be applying for research jobs for the year...where are you having luck finding these positions and what are you searching for in monster, craigslist, etc...im not having luck finding many entry level research positions..most seem to require experience.....also, what location are you in?

I got an interview at 8pm after I had a sumptuous dinner like I always do. Just casually browsing on my iPhone sitting on the couch feeling rather lazy. Then I almost threw up after I saw the email. There were people who received automated emails after midnight and such. It can happen at any time. Really keeps you on your toes.
This is seriously early in the cycle. I feel like SDN is making people more antsy than they should. If you have decent stats, it's perfectly normal to not hear back til September or even October. Many schools start out really really late. Be patient!

yea of course but not in a working setting or "years" of experience since i wasnt putting in 40 hours a week or 40+ in a lab
Among my group of friends, the only ones who found RA jobs by graduation were:
a. those who worked summer internships (full time), or year-round internships (part-time)=>most went into industry; a few into academic labs.
b. those who drove their own projects (~20 hours a week) for professors and wrote a senior thesis or published=>all went into academic labs.
Most of us (myself included), ended up feeding into the labs that we interned at or an associated lab (or a rival company-happened to a friend who interned in industry). Nobody wants to train a new graduate who will most likely leave to go off to professional school without fulfilling their commitment and the 1 year of research experience requirement screens them out. Competent hires (requiring less training) and/or stable hires who won't jump ship (the people who actually want a career in research; either with industry or academia) graduate with extensive research experience.
Nowadays, without serious lab experience you'll need to do a research-oriented masters to be competitive for an RA position.
