Hey everyone...

I'm wondering whether any of you have been invited for an interview on a date that is inconvenient for you, and whether dental schools are flexible in scheduling you a different interview date.

I just started a new job and expect to be in it until I get in to dental school... I was invited for an interview on a date that I'll be working, and I really am concerned about taking a day off so soon. (I just started this job)

The people at work have no idea that I'm planning on attending school in a year...so I don't want them to know about my interview.

Any advice?

Thanks...

Way to be honest, and absolutely not greedy, too...

Can they fire you if you tell them now?

You can't be too sure that you're going to get accepted--but, still, you should mention this fact at least to someone in charge of your time-off days.

You might get more interviews...

just call in sick. or tell them in advance that you have a dr appointment.

It kinda is a dr appointment.
I had an inconvenience and posted a thread asking if anyone wanted to trade me dates. then when someone did I got ahold of the school and saked them if it would be fine and they did it no problem

Thanks dudes!!

I'll come up with something... I just want reassurance that it isn't totally immoral to make up that I'm sick or something.

Hate to burst your bubble, but What 'isnt totally immoral?' If you will lie, then it is wrong. I am sure you can come up with a truthful way of working this out. The fact that someone else says its ok to do the wrong thing does not make it 'not really wrong.'

well, i guess i'll just tell them the truth... i just have to work my way to it... they are really excited to have me there... i don't want to burst THEIR bubble so soon.

by the way, "duh":

I'm sure you are guilty of making up a few little lies in your day...so don't try to act like you're such a saint.

Saint? maybe when hell freezes over 🙂 . I KNOW from EXRERIENCE, i've told those lies before and I felt like crap. Many times I learnt that I could have gotten by with the truth. Sorry if i sounded all 'holier than thou' I didn't mean to. I still stand by my earlier statement though. Good luck.
