Hi all,

So I was wondering if it's common to bring some sort of portfolio with you for the interview?
This includes resume and my published papers.

Also would it look unprofessional to bring a bag pack too? (it's a white leather one, not really casual looking)

Thanks! my interview is tomorrow 😳oooo

I brought a padfolio and a purse (you guys have them long pockets) to all my interviews. I didn't put my resume in it, but it was helpful to keep all my papers organized and to also take notes with. Many other guys I saw at my interviews also had padfolios with them.

I wouldn't really bring a backpack though..........

Good luck on your interview!

What if you had to check out of your hotel before heading to your interview (because by the time you are done, it would be past check in time), and you flew to your interview? If you rented a car, you could just leave anything you don't need to bring to the interview in the car, but I doubt many candidates actually rent a car on their interview trip.

Most schools are accommodating and will let you drop off your stuff with them when you check-in so that you don't need to carry it around the school all day.

I only drove to my interviews (four SoCal ones) and never stayed overnight anywhere, but based on how things were last cycle, the answer to this question seems to be that schools are accommodating and almost always have a place to store luggage, but you can always call/email ahead of your interview to confirm.
