I just got an "interview deferral" email from University of Iowa, which is saying my application has not been cancelled or denied, but I will not be receiving an interview at this time or supplemental materials...what does this mean exactly??? 😱

Is this a nice rejection email? 🙁

Anyone else get a similar email from anywhere?

I'd assume it means that they will revisit your application later in the cycle again and compare it the whole applicant pool at that time. They'll probably want to see your fall term grades as well.

I'd assume that they are able to find enough people to fill their class up before returning to the deferred pile. At least that is what I have told myself after getting that message.

I got this as well. I'm looking at it as a rejection, if they didn't like me now, not likely they'll like me later. Guess it wasn't meant to be Iowa 🙁

If you don't mind, please share your stats. Good luck to both of us 🙂

I wonder how many people who got deferred eventually get in. I got the same email too 🙁

I have 3 other interviews.. LECOM, UNE, and NOVA. funny how they're all private. wish at least one state school calls me

been waiting for this school but still no word from them

first batch. 😕

After being deferred by Iowa yesterday, I called this morning to ask what were the reasons behind the situation. Ms. Elaine Brown told me that being a state school stresses a more competitive applicant for OOS vs. in-state. Technically, there was no real reason noted in my application. I asked her if anyone had gotten an interview after being deferred, she said "realistically, none"At the end, she did make a note on my file that I expressed interest in Iowa University.

I just got the deferral from Iowa as well. Rats.
