Interview during your away elective

so its november or december and you are doing an away elective. Do programs offer you an interview while you are there? are this interview days different from an ordinary interview date? any info is more than welcome.

Short answer: it depends on the program. Email the program for specific instructions. Also, you may not be able to interview at other programs if you are doing an away at another (your clinical duties may prevent you from getting the time off, especially if you are interested in impressing the program).

what about taking a day off from an away rotation, for oh, say, anesthesiology, to interview for a prelim/TY program? do you think they'd care, esp because it's a different field? or is it a big no no anyway? or should i just say that i have a wedding to go to....?

Anesthesia expects that you have to interviews for ty/prelim. It's NOT a different field, just a path (requirement) to anesthesia.
