Okay so I'll ask a question regarding interview experiences, and the next person responds to it and asks another question for the next person to respond to. FUN!

Question: What school have you been to that far exceeded your initial expectations, and what school failed to meet your expectations? (Two questions in one I know shhh)

Someone's too bored waiting for Dec. 1st. 🙂

NYU (only school i've interviewed at so far =P but I actually did come away impressed. Why? Because they seem like they are heading in the right direction, feel like there are unlimited resources there, huge clinic + patient pool, renovated facilities, happy students, nice faculty, great city to live in, very diverse student body, good food =P

QUESTION: Has any school you have interviewed at convinced you that it is the one for you that wasn't your #1 choice going into interviews? i.e. Say you had your eyes set up on Harvard from the start, but now would choose UoP over Harvard.

UCONN. I think other schools "dont get it" whereas uconn does. their ideology is that dentists are doctors first and then technicians and need to be trained accordingly. hence the 2 years of med school courses with med school students. maybe its because i came from a small liberal arts college, but i really like the culture at the school, the upbeat students, faculty and admin. you can feel that support outweighs competition among the students. i think these are all important to have when you are going through some of the most difficult / demanding time in your life. my one worry going in was the facilities, but the improvements over the past year blew me away. i am into implants, so the new impant & reconstruction center was right up my alley.

My question: What is on your short-list of items, say max of 5, that will influence your decision on where to go (considering you get in to more than 1 school)? facilities, research, reputation, local bars...just a few ideas...

My Factors: Price, location, clinical reputation, facilities, patient pool

My question: If you found out you got into two schools, one cheap that you kinda liked and one super expensive that you LOVED which would you pick and why?

I'd pick the more expensive school. I'd rather pay the extra $ to be happier for 4 years in a school that I LOVE than save a buck and go to a school I "kinda like." The loans will get paid back, even if it takes a few extra years. 🙂

Q: Anyone had any unusual or really TOUGH interview questions outside of the normal, expected range of questions? I know I was asked about biochemistry: what is the end product of amino acid degredation, and step by step how ATP is made in a cell! 😱

Seriously...what school asked you such a question!

My hardest question was not so much hard but confusing, the first question I was asked was "What is the process of dentists?" I was like ?!?! So I asked, "Do you mean the process of going to school?" Then he said, "No, tell me anything about dentistry, why you want to be a dentist etc." So that cleared it up for me. But at first I was like omg I do not know how to answer my first question, lol.

Question: What do you want me to tell admissions that they do not already know about you?
