When you interview for an attending job - when do they usually offer you the job and when do they present to you the contract?

Do they usually invite you for a second interview or call you to see if you're still interested in signing on?

What have been your experiences, seasoned vets?

Thanks!

Most of mine went like this.

Interviewer: Here is the site, the statistics, and the pay
Me: Ok
Interviewer: When can you start?

And yes, they will usually call you afterwards if you say you're going on a few other interviews, etc. Hell, one of mine still calls me occasionally.

My first offer was on the spot....good city...non-desirable hospital.

My second offer was after 2 rounds of interviews...good city...good hospital.

My third offer was 2 weeks after my interview. They had been interviewing for 5 months prior to my interview. This is the contract I took...good city...good hospital. I still work here 6 years later.
