so I will be interviewing on the 15th and I actually planned to stay in town for the weekend after my interview with my gf to check out the area. If I have internet access I will be sure to post how my interview went, but I dunno, I heard the beaches there were pretty nice 🙂

dear mzztiffany, I've never been to an official interview either but I just had a really short "mock" interview with my pre-med advisor and she said that I should keep "eye" contact like 95-100% of the time, if you are to look away to gather your thoughts make sure it is only for a split second. And maybe practice in the mirror staring at yourself while you talk. I haven't tried this yet but I will soon.

Aside from that just check out the interview feedback section at SDN, I copied and pasted all the questions that I can not answer naturally to Word and I am going to print out the questions and just make little notes on what I may say.

Lastly I heard that if anything, it is best to be MEMORABLE, and you can accomplish this by telling maybe some very short and revelant stories at your interview or just being honest and yourself and hopefully the interviewer will like you. If you are memorable, it will pay off at the end of the week when the committee is reviewing dozens of file to find people to accept. Best of luck!

I'd say exactly two weeks. I recieved an email from them Aug 3 saying they got my stuff. And I got an email this morning asking what dates I want to interview!

I ended up choosing 9/22.

My advice... it's HOT down here in South Florida right now and will likely continue to be for the next two months at least. Dress nice but think about how to keep cool (e.g. bring a small towel and dab your forehead if you sweat)

I got an interview at Nova, and will hopefully get interviews at two other southern COMs. All I can say is, thank goodness for the seersucker suit 😎

Ideally, you want one of those Hollywood suits that have a self-contained A/C system. So you'll be on the tour but your suit will be blowing cool shots of air under your arms.

If I remember correctly, it was somthing like over 3,000 applicants, 500 interviews for a class of 240ish. If you get interviewed, you have more than a 50% chance of admission. They will not fill the class with the first 240 acceptances they hand out because some people chose other schools, so they give out plenty more acceptances than that.

And don't worry, if you made it to the interview, your academics are good enough... they just want to see why you want to be a DO and if you have a good personality for medicine.

I booked flight and hotel... from 9/21-9/23 what about u?

hotel was 56/night for the red inn near the airport(obviously not a great hotel but im gettin poorer by the second lol) ..whcih is about 13 mins from the school.. i say take taxi everywhere u go...no point in gettin a car unles ur rich.
