do most programs typically send interview invites on day 1, or do they tend to wait?

really variable. i woudn't stress unless its been a few weeks and you haven't heard jack. if you had a good month you're probably getting an interview!

Not on day 1, but within the first week usually. You can tell for sure if you know any friends that have gotten an invite from a specific program. Sometimes interview slots exceed invites sent, but I think there’s a way to see how many slots are taken. If you didn’t get an invite, it means the program didn’t think it was a good fit. While it can be disheartening, at least they are ripping off the bandaid early instead of giving false hope.
