Hello!
I got two interviews already and I am so excited about it, but I am so frustrated and nervous about my English. Only 14 days left until the first interview and my English of course is not getting any better. When I get nervous I speak really badly. (Yes! I am international student). I was wondering for those who are already in dental school, do you know anyone in your class who is international student but can't speak English that well. I am so depressed these days because of this. I studied so hard for good GPA and DAT score, but may be I should have spend more time to learn how to speak and articulate myself. Any advise will be very helpful!
Thank you!!!

I am an international student. I understand what you feel. I wish some dental schools could take me. Lucky you got two interviews already

You have 14 days..practice practice! I know it's different under pressure, but since English is not your first language, practice answering dental school related questions. Practice with a person, talk to yourself in the mirror, or record yourself answering random questions like why you want to be a dentist and then watch the video. Being under pressure often even makes fluent speakers struggle, so you are not alone!
Good luck! Btw which schools?

I got interview from NYU, and Bufflo... so far.
I really hope at least one of them understand my English and like me.
Thank you guys for ur advise!!

congrats on landing two interview~~
English is my second language too and I totally understand how you feel right now (i'm worse than you because I don't even have any interview for me to worry about right now...)

anyways...I think your English seems fine and good luck on your interviews
I'm pretty sure they'll understand that they can't expect the same English level from native born and international students.

Spend some time looking through the forums for typical interview questions. You can anticipate several things you are going to be asked and practicing answering those questions with a friend will help a lot with the interview regardless of your native language.

Just curious, what is your native language? My wife is at USC and if you can speak spanish or korean there you are likely to get a ton of patients when you get to the clinic. Although english is your second language, being fluent in another language can definitely be a strength.

Congrats on getting interviews!! Which batch are you in? I'm in first batch but still nothing from NYU. 🙁

How long did it take for NYU to cash your check. I didn't put tracking on my mail so I don't know if they've received it yet, but I sent it like a week and a half ago.

almost 1/2 of the applicants apply to NYU so they take a long time. even for second batchers.
