lots of people say they prepare for their interview by looking at the respective schools' website... I was wondering what you really get out of it... for instance, I've searched through the UofMichigan website and didn't get all that much out of it that I feel is relevant to an interview. Thanks for your input.

It helped me to look at that school's mission statement and what they're main focus is (for instance research) so when they ask you why you like their school you can say something more than you like the town. The interview feedback on this site is also helpful for preparing those "standard" questions (i.e. why dentistry? What do u see yourself doing in 10 yrs)

Another helpful thing is that by looking at the website you are able to generate specific questions about the program. By asking just general questions about curriculm and such you get a general answer but when you ask a specific question you a get specific answer and it shows genuine interest in the school and that is always impressive to a school because if nothing else it makes them feel good about themselves.

I checked out the the latest issues of the school newsletter, and tried to throw a few of the things I read into conversations with the interviewers. I thought that might show just how interested I am in the school. Try and find links to the newsletter on the school website if you like.
