Fellas,

I know I should probably post this under the general forums section, but I figured I could count on my boys here to give me a straight answer. Heres the thing, I havent been home in a long long time, Ive scheduled 3 out rotations from about sept-nov. I would really like to be able to go home for a month from about the end of november to the end of december (for the holidays).

Problem is home is thousands of miles away, a little island in the middle of the pacific, so flying back to do an interview is out of the question.

when typically are interviews, I am leaving in the heart of the interview season? or do most places interview after the holidays, in january and feb.? thanks in advance.

Most of my interviews were in december, but I seem to recall most places offering interviews in January, and one in early february. Depending upon how many (and which) programs you plan to interview, it seems plausible you could limit it to just january. I think I packed eight into december, but the holidays ate up a week. I think you'll still probably want to do some prelim interviews, which can add a lot of trips into that limited timeframe.

Interview season = Mid-Late October to Mid January (even begining of febuary- ie. wash u). If you are a decent applicant you won't need more than 10 interviews, I wish I hadn't gone to so many (20 including prelim. years) If you do interviews back to back... you'd be on the road for about 2.5-3 weeks. I'd take time off and visit the pacific island scene- Sounds warm and fuzzy 🙄 That's just me though. Make sure you get on scheduling ASAP, because spots fill up quickly. Have your application in on opening day and you'll have more options regarding scheduling.

My experience was a little different. I did most of my interviews in November and December. I went on a total of 12. I actually found that most of the programs I interviewed at either didn't offer interview slots in January or only a few dates. I only went on two interviews in January. I agree though. Get your app in on day one.

most of my interviews were in jan. Had some as early as Nov (was offered interviews times even as early at october!!!), my last interview was first week of feb, but some programs offered interview times into second week of feb.

thanks for the replies thus far fellas, I cant make up my mind because it seems as though some of you did most of your interviews in december and others of you did most in january. I definetly agree, I must have my ERAS in on opening day, good advice.

Anybody else, what are your thoughts, should I stay or should I go? 😕
