Hey everyone, i had a question about a possible response to the interview question "Is _______ your first choice?" ( the name of the school goes in the blank 😎). I was tall by a dentist to tell everyschool that that is your first choice. I personally thought it wouldn't be right to tell them that they are your first choice when they are not. But on the other hand, it might not make a good impression to tell them they are not your first choice.

So can i get a little feedback.

Maybe you could explain that you applied to all of the schools you did for a reason and that they are all on an equal playing field. Unless of course you are at your dream school and they ask...I think the answer would be obvious🙄

my 2 cents:

since you're in florida, you could honestly tell in an out-of-state no solely on the reason that you would get in state tuition at a florida dental school. perhaps also explain that accumulating high debt with accruing interest is a concern.

I heard from an Orthodontist who also teaches at a Dental School, that they technically aren't allowed to ask this question...so that's what he said, but obviously they aren't going by the rules then, right?

at the schools i was interviewed for last year, i was asked "why the university of ___ ? " it's a question closely related to the other so be prepared for that one.

Definitely be prepared to answer this question. They won't ask you which is your favorite school but they expect you to know and have researched their school. Not all schools are the same so know something that appeals to you about that specific school. You're only required to know as much as the school website allows, but it's better if you can go out and speak with faculty or students to get additional perspectives.

If you search on the interview feedback questions, Columbia has asked before if Columbia is their first choice.
