When a particular school asks if they are your #1 choice (or what school is your top choice), is it bad if you tell the truth and say that another school is?

I like to be honest (also I suck at lying) but I don't want them to view me as an uninterested applicant.

Good question. I actually do not have a #1 choice. Every school has its own strengths, ups and downs etc. I would not be able to tell you that there's an absolute #1 choice for me.

My #1 is the school that accepts me. I'd tell then something along those lines, but in a more "smooth" manner

I guess that is true. I won't have a clear #1 choice until I've seen the schools that I've applied to and get a feel for their campus, curriculum, student body, facilities, etc. Right now, everything for me is just speculation. And I do have to get in first! lol

Just say that they're one of your top choices.

Just be honest. I would tell any school that asked me that Michigan (my state school) is my number one choice. Other than that I don't know enough about the other schools to make a decision until I have interviewed and checked the schools out.
