Did anyone order the dpt interview prep guide at DPTSECRETS.COM?? I heard it has a ton of questions they typically ask on interviews. I got rejected from two schools last year, and now I'm getting really nervous. I need all the help I can get. Any reviews on this book?

I haven't heard anything about an interview book and I honestly think it might be a waste of money. There are plenty of helpful suggestions on this forum about interview situations, but you just have to search around for it.

Do you think the reason you got rejected by those two schools was based on your interview?

Artizzle, thanks for the input. I applied to two schools last year that did not require interviews. This year is a different story--I'm applying to about 8. I have a 3.02 GPA and a 2.92 science GPA which I feel holds me back somewhat.

Anyway, I ordered the manual last night because I need all the help I can get!! I was too tired to start reading it last night, but after I read it i'll come back and tell you guys what I think of it.

JMPTHopeful,

What did you think of the interview manual? Where there a lot of questions from real interviews? Do you think it's helpful? A review please!

I agree with the previous comment. This forum is the best resource for that, you could communicate directly to people who have interviewed at the school.

Seeing as how there are plenty of people who are in PT school that haven't even heard of DPTsecrets, I don't think it's going to make a difference.

WillWords,

Overall I thought it was awesome. It has like a hundred questions from real PT grad program interviews. But this is the kicker, the manual takes those 100 questions, divides them into groups (some of the Qs overlap because they are similar), and then gives you the probability of receiving such a question. Basically, some types of questions are more common than others, as explained in the book. Also, the manual tells you how to answer some of these questions (basically what the interviewer wants to hear).

I'll tell you why I ordered this book--cause I get really nervous during interviews. I applied to 10 schools this year and I'm really worried about not getting in because I was rejected last year. PTCAS is killing me because now there are so many more applicants, which has me worried. I'll take anything to boost my confidence to help me stand out, because I feel my GPA is holding me back.

Anyway, I'll report back after my two upcoming interviews!!

Cool, you realized your weakness and worked on it to improve. Good luck with your future interviews.

Thanks Artizzle...and I wish you good luck too with your interviews. I just spoke to an admissions rep and they told me that with since the implementation of PTCAS, the total number of applicants doubled! From 350 to 700!! I wish I could work on my GPA more but that is a done deal now.

Damn, this manual really worked!

I was in an interview two weeks ago, and the interviewer (who was doing most of the talking), threw in a surprise ethics "moral" dilemma question at the end. The question was literally out of the manual and I aced it. If anyone is worried about their interviews, get this book!

Good job! Where was your interview at?

LOL, I don't want to say because I've mentioned some of the schools that I have applied to before (plus my GPA and other stats) and I don't want to have any "blowback" for using the manual. However, the manual really does give some good advice as how to answer some of the questions, in fact, I think it saved me on one (and it was the only question during the interview).

Like the OP, I tend to get really nervous in high pressure situations. A week before my first interview I was so nervous that I ordered the dptsecrets manual and studied it like I studied for the GRE. I literally had the whole thing memorized walking into my first interview. Almost like I crammed for a test.

Damn did it work. I was initially nervous, but the questions were so familiar that I really loosened up and felt relaxed. It was almost a cakewalk.

Yeah I just had three interviews, and the questions in the interviews were pretty much exactly the same ones as in the dpt secrets manual. It made the interviews so much easier.

Hey Will have you heard back from any of those schools?

How long did it take you to get the book?

It's an e-book so it can be downloaded almost immediately.

I bought this book and honestly I do not think it was worth the $30. It provides about 50 question, most of which can be found searching about interviews on this forum or the internet in general. True, it does give you answers to some of the questions, but I feel they are answers you could have come up with on your own after thinking about the question for a few minutes. Anyway, just my thoughts.

Well for those who are wondering I finally got in! I'm a borderline candidate with a mediocre GPA so there is hope for us!! I can't say that it's due to the manual but I certainly did feel more confident in my interviews, which may have given me an edge.
