I have 2 questions for anyone & everyone!

1) On average, how many interviews are there compared to the number of acceptances? Like, if I was offered an interview, what are my odds? (assuming I do well). I applied to a school that recieves 350-500 applications and has 96 students in this year's class.

2) On the pharmacy interview feedback page, what does it mean when it says an open-file/closed-file interview?

Thanks all!

1.) It's my understanding that your chances once
you get an interview vary depending on the
school to which you are applying. Some schools
interview a lot of people and then offer admission
to a small portion of those, while others interview
only slightly more than they plan on admitting.
You could do some research to see how many of
the 350-500 applicants last year were offered an
interview if you want more specific info.

2.) "Closed file" means that the person/people interviewing
you do not have access to your applicant file (meaning
they don't know that you have a stellar GPA and perfect
PCAT scores 🙂 ). "Open file" means that they will have
access to this information. The type of interview should
help you determine what specifically you talk about when
you are asked questions. For example, if they ask you
about your academic success in a closed file interview,
you would want to elaborate on some of the courses you
took and the grades you received in those courses. If that
same question was asked open file, you wouldn't need to
go into specific detail.

Hope that helps!

I found the AACP, the school's websites and occasionally PharmCAS as very helpful for finding out the numbers you are asking about. The only problem with AACP is that the numbers aren't current, but I found the percentages to be very close from year to year (on the schools I checked).

I found the app to interview to accept stats for the last cycle on the webpages for each of the schools that I had applied at.
