Hey all, need some advice. I'm doing an away rotation late Oct to mid Nov. I want to match at this program and this was all they had available (its a sweet rotation, I'll get lots of face time with the program director hopefully). I'm concerned that I may get interview offers during this time, which I will either have to accept and miss time at the place where I'm trying to impress (and thus look like an ass) or cancel interview offers entirely. What do ya'll think. Graci.

My first anesthesia interview was right around thanksgiving and they extended into january. Unless you plan on doing like 20 interviews, it seems perfectly reasonable to expect that you'd be able to schedule all your interviews for AFTER your rotation is over. Of course, the rotation might be a little late to use for a letter for OTHER programs, but if you can avoid looking like a tool, I'm sure it will help you at that particular institution. The top programs all offered numerous (like 20 or so) potential interview dates, if you're in their first round of invitations, that is, so you really shouldn't have to do interviews during the rotation. You should be just fine. Good luck!
