Interview stats

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
You can go on mdapplicants.com and put your stats in (give or take a few points) to see how others are doing but it's a relatively small sample size and probably not a representative portion of the applicant pool. You're doing well.

Hey, I'm just curious how I match up to everyone else as far as interviews go. I have no idea how many ii's are normal for this time of year or for my stats. Here's my run-down: 3.71 Overall GPA; 27 O and 30 O MCAT's, better than average LOR's, Primary in June 6th, Secondaries by end of August. Applied to 16 schools: 5 reach, 7 mid-range, 4 fall-back. I have received 5 ii's, 2 from reach schools, two from fall-backs, and 1 m-r.

Opinions, comments, your stats.....?

This is what is called the subtle brag. He doesn't care about responses, just wants to brag abotu getting 5 II (2 of which are from "reach schools" with no names)

:slap:

 LOL was thinking the same exact thing! I just didn't want to say it! 🙄

13 IIs as of today.

Why be subtle, when you can be bold?

As a non-AA URM with a 3.00s/3.14c/33Q I have 4 MD invites (BU, Loyola, Drexel, Wright State) and 4 DO invites.
if you worry about how people on SDN are doing, your brain will explode

+1.

Going to all of 'em? Man, that would take a fortune in travel expenses.

I will be until I garner my first acceptance. Several of them are also grouped and a couple are local, so it will be several less than 13 separate trips. I'm pretty sure Tots/Diz have more than I.

Edit: To be nice, I know of a > 34 (balanced) MCAT, > 3.8 c/sGPA, > average ECs, July-verified applicant with no interview invites yet. It can't be time to panic quite yet.

Wow, I thought there would be more collaboration and less hating on a med student form. My reach schools might not be same as yours. "he" is a she and a poor kid who didnt think they stood a chance... I guess I am seeing first hand the kind of immaturity I'm hoping to avoid in med school. If you can't be positive don't bother me with your BS.

MedPR, you are a boss, congrats on the II's so far bud. Hoping for the same good fortune over here!:xf:

Yes. You have a good chance of getting on board the admitted train if you get an interview.

  1. This is a beaten to death topic.
  2. There is one right below it.
  3. You have a low post count.
  4. You are subtle bragging.
  5. You didn't provide much information.
  6. etc

👍 - you don't see other pre-med students going around, blurting out how many IIs they have then breaking it down by school tiers, THEN asking others where they are. You can get a sense of how people are doing by combing the school-specific forums, checking MDApps and a whole other host of options. No need to make a topic about a dead horse.

Also, PMOD - 13 IIs, holy crap. I could only hope to get that many throughout the entire cycle, much less up to this point.

You're exactly the type of person interviews screen for... in case someone iliterate slips through the first two rounds... Keep you're negativity to yourself or start your own negative thread.

I don't mean to sound rude here, but you have 5 interview invites in September, and a lot of applicants would kill for that. If you really want to know the answer to this, make an MDapps. Otherwise, your thread is just gonna come across the wrong way, as evidenced by the responses here.

But, congrats so far!

Sorry... I have work and research and no tme to "comb through threads". I dont know whats normal or whether to be excited or nervous... I dont care what "others" are doing or not doing. Maybe you should spend less time hating other people and more time trying to encourag them and fostering positivity.

Haha thanks, but the URM effect is likely my saving grace for MD. Good luck to you as well 🙂

MedPR, when are you interviewing at Drexel? Mine's the 28th

I'll see you there 🙂

Also, this.

Thanks.... I didn't know what to expect and didnt find what I was looking for in several searches. I think I'll delete this 🙁 I hope people at school don't suck this much.

I actually do my best work during interviews, but thanks! I'm really extroverted. And what does my literacy have to do with anything? Also, your is possessive and you're is short for 'you are.' Remember, this is a professional forum.

Wut? You specifically stated you do care what "others" are doing or not doing.

No one hates anyone here, we're just laughing that you could not find one other thread regarding this topic.

It's not like there are already four threads on the front page regarding interview invites this cycle, right? Those would never exist: [LINK 1], [LINK 2], [LINK 3], [LINK 4]. There couldn't possibly be entire forums dedicated to what your chances are (clicky) or how impressive it is to get an interview at a certain school (clicky).

I mean, if any of this information was already on the forum, you'd practically have to be blind to miss all this available information right at your fingertips within seconds.

:beat:

I really hope you didn't search, it'd be pretty hard to miss all the other threads if you did. Also, you can't delete threads unless you donate. And the people on this forum will very likely end up in medical school classes.

Good luck this cycle, you shouldn't need it.

Just a suggestion, but if you think there's something wrong with everyone else, there's likely something wrong with you.

Preaching to the choir, sister. I could tell you about my past with a drug addict parent who made drugs in our house, how my mother ran away with us and we were homeless, dealing with an alcoholic step parent in HS and college, how I worked in high school to help support my family, how my step father has a chronic condition that made it so spent a lot of time in the hospital without a job, how I am currently dealing with his heart attack and wondering if I need to start sending my paychecks home.... but I don't think I have ever mentioned that on this website. The reason... nobody has asked about it nor have I needed to use that information to answer a question. I am an open book of advice and I don't mind sharing it when someone needs it. However, I will not initiate a conversation with a brag.

I called you out on subtle bragging because that is what you did. If you would have started your post with "How many interviews is considered normal to have right now" and then responded a little way down with "Oh, okay. I was worried but I guess I shouldn't be. I have a few interviews already" and finally ended with "Well it is 5 interviews" after we prodded you for details, I wouldn't have called you out. I will quote you because I think you match my feelings on something:

I guess I am seeing first hand the kind of immaturity I'm hoping to avoid in med school.

Yes, 5 II is more than the average person has. However that is not unheard of on SDN. I only have 4 II, one at my dream school (or so it will be until I go on other tours). But don't worry about II yet because a ton of II will be coming out in September and October. Make sure you practice your interviewing skills so you hopefully won't have to go on every interview. I know I had to turn down one of my interviews because of the family health problem mentioned above. I just don't have the money to spend on interviews if I need to use it in other places.
