Sorry if this has been covered before.

After interviewing should thank you letters be sent to all interviewers or is it sufficient to send one to the PD? Thoughts?

Thanks!

Really? That would make my life a lot easier. I was planning on writing thank you notes to everyone who interviewed me. You don't think that's neccessary, though?

Nah. Save yourself some ink. Just my opinion though. 👍

In today's age, is it ok to send an e-mail thank you or is better to send the paper copy that can then be in your file when the committee is evaluating your application?

If you were to ask Miss Manners she would say it is better to hand write the thank you notes. I agree that it is probably easlier to email it, but it would make a better impression if you took the time to write one and stick it in snail mail. I plan on bringing my stationery and writing them while lounging in the hotel room.

I asked one of our faculty and he said that you should definitely hand write them to all that interviewed you. Takes a while, but that is what I'm planning to do.

DO NOT forget the secretary/admin. assistant who arranges the interview day. Those folks can be key advocates, they are usually close with the PD, and are often asked about candidates. Besides, they put an awful lot of work into the interview day.

I know for a fact that I got an executive position (prior to medical school) because I sent a "thank-you" to the CEO's administrative assistant who arranged the interview.

Definitely. I already sent them notes for the two I've interviewed at so far.
