i'm very excited w/ the upcoming interview in mid February. Anyone else out there has the same time slot?

For those who had already interviewed, I'd like some opinion on a matter. The earliest interview date they could give me was the 16th of Feb, but I will have to cancel my trip to my cousin's wedding in Arizona that week. This trip was planned 5 mos in advance. When I talked to admissions yesterday they told me a later interview could be arranged but that would take me into late March. Why such long gap in b/w dates??! should have asked. Anyway, in the midst of my excitement during the call, I made the sacrifice d said 'yes' to the 16th Feb.

I really don't want a March interview (so late??) ...I was thinking to call/write to them today if they could keep me in mind in case of another student canceling his/her date. Would this be a bothersome thing to ask for? Has anyone tried this before? thanks, guys!!

When were you complete there? I've been complete for several weeks now and haven't heard from them. If I were you I would call them and ask if it's all right if you call and check back every week for cancellations that you could fill in for.

Mine was complete on Dec 8th. I actually called in to verify this. I must have called at least 5 times to check on the status of reference letters. I had a lot of problem getting ppl to send them on a timely basis although the letters were requested & reminded many times since July. anyway, by the 6th UMDNJ was, i am sure, relieved to tell me that my file is finally complete. 🙂

Good luck to you! Hope you'll get a happy email soon.

I have been complete since end of november and haven't heard from them. I called in early december and they said my file is complete and has been sent to the adcom for review and haven't heard from them since. I'm an NJ resident with 3.5/25M :scared: Wondering if I should call again?

OMG! I just called them and they only received 1 letter from my pre-med advisor, not the entire packet of letters! ahhhhhh 😱 In the past they told me I was complete, now I'm missing letters! I found out my pre-med advisor did this at another school last week as well. I'm wondering if he did this for all schools now 🙁 *sigh*

Use Interfolio and that will never happen.

This guy is single handedly screwing me over. Told me he sent letters to UMDNJ in late november! Now I'm gonna be 1.5 months behind where I was before in their process! 😡 worst pre-med department ever!

I'm sorry to hear that! I have been so aggravated at my pre-med committee for that same reason. You really need to call each school and ask for the exact materials that have been Processed. The whole month of November was driving me crazy with missing letters, resubmissions and trying to maintain my cool to a very inconsiderate pre-med committee.

Get thet letters in quickly ok! 🙂 goodluck

Wondering if I'm totally screwed now that I"m so behind. I can't believe UMDNJ:SOM told me in early december that I was complete! Then now they change their minds! 😕 I'm worried that most of the classes will already be getting close to schools now and I'm screwed 🙁

hey PlasticMan, I don't know how late UMDNJ interviews are...and what are the acceptance chances for us being interviewed late in the cycle. I can only hope for the best. You should definitely keep calling admissions and explain the situation, maybe they'll take pity..beside, they falsely told told you it was complete!! gee, talk about headaches. btw, some schools allow faxes, i know Nova is one of them. Definitely ask & show them how much you want to go there, esp. being a resident and all.

Is UMDNJ your first choice?

It would be nice to hear from those who had good stories to tell, esp. if they were interviewed and accepted late.

They told me I could have him fax the letters in ahead of time followed by snail mail to speed things up; then I realized my old school is probably closed for another 2 weeks for holiday break! 😡

I was complete late November and I am interviewing January 17th. I actually went and sat in some classes yesterday and I was very impressed with how nice everyone was how the faculty taught. Im sure you will feel the same way. I will keep you posted on how my interview goes and I wish you the best of luck. Oh and when you go to your interview and you go into the parking lot. There is no "visitors" parking lot, just park where it says patients.

I love the avatar. Just thought i would say that lol. Due to your name being "plasticman" do you think that the old comments by franco saying how arnie went to Europe one summer and came back 8 weeks later with huge calves has anything to do with "plastic." Yes i know how he used to be small and then train them all the time but if you look at the pics after his heart surgery and everything else on his entire body shrunk except those calves lol. Ok thats all. Best of luck.

I dunno, but there's speculation that alot of pros have had it done. I'm actually considering doing a contest this summer. Going for my bloodwork next week to make sure everything's ok before I decide to go ahead with it. 😎

The calves look pretty shrunken to me in these pics from after his heart surgery.

im not sure about alot of pros having implants(I remember a while back people giving Ernie Taylor some hell about that) but synthol is definitly wide spread. I have quite a few friends who have decided to go that route mainly with calves and other lagging bodyparts althought I must say I definitly do not agree with that at all!

Good finally someone being smart and having blood work done. Just curious what are ur stats now(for once someone is saying this and i dont mean GPA and mcat lol) You should probably PM me because im pretty sure no body else cares bicep peaks and lower lat insertions other then me 😛

Nice find on those pics. Ill see if i can find the pics my friend sent me a while back while we were debating this. If it wasnt implants back then I guess dbol was really the breakfast of champions lol. But yes in those pics they definitly looked smaller.
Rumor is arnold loved dbol + parabolan. Are you a bodybuilder?

When did they notify you for the interview by the way? Thanks for the info. I heard a lot of great things about the school but not the interview. There is forum last week (?) on how badly the interviewers came across to the students; they looked bored, impatient, hostile etc.. I hope yours will go well. I will continue to try and check on cancellations. The lady from admissions, Haines?, sounds nice and understanding.

Wow, thats the exact opposite from the impression i had yesterday. Nate from SDN was nice enough to show me around, introduce me to people and give me some info. Dont let Nate's not smiling in his pics scare you hes actually a very nice guy who always sits in the front of the class( ha sorry Nate i had to tell them) and Kevbot has to work on ordering food in a timely manor or the people cut him in line lol. I believe ur reffering to Hines(i think thats her last name) I met with her yesterday and she was very nice. Dean Wallace probably made the best impression on me as a very nice and personable guy. Nate introduced me and they were kidding around about who accepts students so then we started talking about different bribing methods like western union and moneygrams lol. He seemed like a very nice guy.

I cant really comment on the interviewers but if the faculty is an accurate representation of the interviewers im sure it will be a good experience.

Oh and blankpage. to answer your question, I had my committee letter sent out a few days before Thanksgiving(last thing i needed to send them) and they notified me the first week in December and my interview is for January 17th.

Everyone else who is reading this thread for info on UMDNJ-som please dont even try to attempt to understand what i just said, its futile lol.

actually it's not and I would not go bragging about my knowledge of these things. Hmmm...I wonder if anyone who took ochem, bio, or biochem could figure out your uncoded chatter? You're smarter than those guys on Miami Vice, right? 😎

Is it wrong for future physicians to be discussing hormone replacment therapy? 😀 There is nothing wrong with having knowledge; there is a medical application for the substances mentioned

The UMDNJ admin office is the best!!
Ms Shambra Hines is great and so is Ms Paula Watkins! 👍

don't worry about the interviewers. I had a 40min interview, was asked about my grades twice, was given a lengthy talk on what to do if I don't get in this cycle, and did not get much feedback/reaction in my interviews. I still was accepted. The interview is not stressful if you go in there and you are professional and prepared. Some people luck out and get a 10 minute interview and they are out the door and get an acceptance a few weeks later.

Don't listen to other impressions you could set yourself up for a bad interview this way.
:luck:

It was a joke. Im sure if anyone had organic chem they could definitly draw out these structures or if you have taken biochem you would know when they mentioned THG in the news that it was a progesterone derivitive. Im sure many people on here have learned how opiates work on the receptors and what not, and if they see a movie where its discussed they can be like " oh wow i learned how that works". I dont believe having knowledge of arnolds drug use is a bad thing or understanding that testosterone converts estrogen to form gynocomastia is such a dark area that knowledge of such things shouldnt be expressed. You learn such things in any Endocrinology class. Oh and its not bragging, and i was kidding around when i said people shouldnt try to understand that because it was off topic and im sure most people could careless. If you would like to discuss my "uncoded chatter" feel free to PM me. But I will stop discussing bodybuilding on this thread because that does not have anything to do with UMDNJ-som.

Afterall in my applications when they asked what field, i did say endocrinology on some of them. But Plasticman I think we should take our HRT talk off this thread. Even though my knowledge of such things has helped me out immensely in endo, organic, and biochem. I have got an answer correct on a practice MCAT because they asked me what pathway testosterone converts to DHT. Alpha 5 reductase baby!

👎 but ok I guess 😛

I wasn't complete until late December (all my LORs and all that jazz were there but I sent in the secondary itself kind of late) and I received an interview invite on 1/9 for 2/3. YAY!! I'm super excited about it!
