Hello everyone,

I am so excited about my upcoming interview with RMUofHP on Sept. 13th in just a few short weeks! This is my first DPT interview ever though and I just don't want to come in unprepared.

Has anyone interviewed with them recently? If so, can you speak to the type of questions they asked? Things you were glad you did at the interview or to prepare? Things you wished you had done to prepare? Please let me know too if you were accepted or not and if not, what you heard for feedback if you followed up with them for that.

Thanks everyone!

Best,
Grace.

Hello everyone, just bumping this up. I'd still love to get any advice and/or hear interview experience for RMUofHP if anyone is able to share!

How did your interview process go? I have an interview at RMUHP this week.

How did your interview process go? I have an interview at RMUHP this week.

I interviewed with RMUHP this past October. There was a small ice breaker of jeopardy at the beginning and then we split off into groups to interview, do tours of the campus, and do a Q&A panel with some current students.

The interview itself was very laid back. I was asked some very basic questions of "tell me a little bit about yourself", why PT, what would you do if you saw a classmate cheating, etc. We talked about my background a bit in depth and I asked many questions about his and it ended up being very conversational. Make sure you have your answers lined up. Be yourself and be confident! Also make sure to have some questions to ask them as well. You have made it this far and they want to interview because they like you!

I interviewed on a Friday and they called me letting me know of my acceptance the Monday after - so they are very quick to let you know if you got in or not. I turned down my spot so that is one more spot for another student.

Good luck!

How long did you wait to hear back about getting an interview?
I applied end of October and mid-November they offered the interview. But I know they do rolling admissions so it might depend on when you submitted your application.

Okay that makes sense. I applied end of December and haven’t heard back yet so I am getting nervous haha!!

How did your interview go?! I bet you are relieved to have that done! 😀
Can I ask you what your stats were? Just trying to get a better idea of if I have a chance at an interview.

I thought the interview went well! More of a comfortable and natural conversation than my last interview haha. RMUHP has a great culture/atmosphere.

I haven't shared my 'stats' yet so I hope this is what you want!

Major: Kinesiology (concentration in pre- physical therapy) from my local state college
Observation hours: 1520 from working in outpatient clinic, 50 from volunteering in inpatient rehab unit
GRE: 159 verbal, 157 quantitative, 3.5 analytical writing (still upset about that writing score)
Overall GPA: 3.62 (very consistent over all four years, highest for a year was 3.65 and lowest was 3.59)
I'm not sure where to find my pre-req GPA but I can say that my absolute lowest grade in a subject was a B.
During college I volunteered in a program that gives kids with disabilities an opportunity to be physically active, and after college I earned a certificate in Exercise Physiology from the American College of Sports Medicine (literally just took a test and passed with the knowledge I gained from my degree).

I wouldn't consider myself an over-achiever, in fact I've been kicking myself for not shadowing any specialists because I feel like my experience is very general with just inpatient and outpatient experience. Here's hoping that at least one school liked me!

That is great to hear the interview went well and that is wasn't too nerve-racking! 🙂

I think you have great experience and everything! Also... THOSE GRE SCORES! Wow! I wish haha. I literally have the bare minimum (150V and 150Q with 4.5Writing) and it took me 3 times to get that, so you should be super proud of those! The program you were a part of sounds wonderful and you have great stats! Thank you for sharing! 🙂

I am sure a lot of schools would like you and good luck with the rest of the process!

The biggest thing that helped me was practicing my answers to questions out loud. I ended up getting a question that I had spent a lot of time crafting an answer for: what would I do if I saw a classmate/friend cheating on a test. A question I wasn't ready for was what is my favorite book/movie and why (but I think that's more of a just to see your personality type question). Make sure you have clear and concise answers to your biggest strengths and weaknesses, and are able to talk about how you are improving/have improved on your weaknesses. Finally, I think all schools will ask why you want to be a PT, and why you want to go to that specific school. Again, practicing out loud made a huge difference between my performance at my first interview and at my second interview (RMUHP).

This is great info thanks so much! 😀 And congratulations again!! 😀

I was accepted today for the September start date, but I will be turning down my spot to attend a different program. Hope this helps someone else!
