if you get an interview, does that mean you're almost guaranteed admission as long as you don't screw it up somehow?

Not really. Interview is an opportunity to prove who you really are besides the numbers and letters in transcripts. So, do a really good job and be really prepared for this only shot! If you just do it "averagely" --> doesn't mean u can be accepted.

If you look back through posts you will see that some schools interview upwards of 200 people for only 30 - 70 spots. :-(

So until you get that letter ........
