What do you think is going on over there in SF? I know one person at my school in the same situation, and I talked to another person who interviewed in dec. and was rejected a week later. I guess we still have some light at the end of the tunnel

I interviewed on in early Jan (later that the earlier posts), I havnt heard anything either

-I still have hope!

I interviewed in late October, but have not heard a thing. I heard half the seats are given up. It's my top choice right now, and I'm waiting patiently. Hang in there guys and gals! I feel your pain.

Mine was mid October, and still have not heard anything since. Glad that I got my second choice going.

Just rekindling this thread quickly. Has anyone whose interviewed, or called... heard about when UCSF will send out the next batch of acceptances. I see a few new interviews there, and it somewhat annoys me that we still have heard diddly squat

A friend of mine who attends UCSF dental school told me they have 50 of their 80 enrollments spots already filled. I called UCSF admissions to confirm the fact and they told me that they will have their class filled by March 1st. So I guess from now till the end of march 30 spots need to be filled.

thanks dreday for the info, and def. interested to hear what they tell you johnny

I have an interview with UCSF on Feb 11th i guess it is somewhat of good new that they havent filled their class yet. I'll try to get some info from them when i go next friday. Best of luck to everybody.

Hey yagoubian,

Looks like I might be at the interview with you on Feb 11th. I'm comfirmed, but not sure if I can make it, and I haven't heard the greatest things about the school lately. But everyone on this thread seems anxious to get in, so I guess I should see for myself. Hope I'll see you there!

I will be up there on the 14th.... shortly after you guys.

Did UCSF notifiy you guys of your interviews thru email, phone call, or letter?

Just wondering, because I am paranoid about emails in the junk folder.

i was contacted via email as well.

i think it's cool that UCSF seems to be interviewing lots of people... a lot of my friends who did really well on the DAT, they're all getting a shot to present themselves. Personally for me, the process is gutwrenching. so for the people that interviewed in the first round, (ie October, and November), do you think we have an equal, better, or worse chance than the people interviewing in the 2nd round? i mean, if we didnt get accepted with our batch (1st round), i can't imagine how great our application would look after a 2nd or 3rd reading. plus, since it's been so long, i feel like it's out of sight... out of mind. UCSF was by far, my top choice... i'm sure someone else can relate to this entire post, because all who interviewed in the first round SURELY got in somewhere, and already sent the deposit, for security.

yeah paulie, i hear you...i'm totally in the same situation. i interviewed in november, fell in love with the place, didn't hear back, got into a couple of other schools, and placed a deposit for Columbia. i feel like if they are sending out all these new interview invites, they must not be pleased with the people they interviewed already and didn't offer a spot to. when the process was explained to us at the interview, it sounds like they do it all based on a points system (which i'm not exactly a huge fan of), but i think the points thing will help us out in the whole out-of-sight, out-of-mind area.

Hey Nothin2do and Pulie,

I interviewed in early Nov and have yet to hear anything. i spoke to Debra on Jan 20th and she told me to send in my deposit to my backup as a good idea. She also said that the adcom is meeting soon so I might hear something from them. If you guys want to specialize, UCLA and USC might be good ideas!

I hope this answers your question. The way they do it is they give you points for each area of your application and your interview. Then they put everyone on one excel sheet. Then sort according to the total score. Then pick certain number of people on the top of the list. As more interviewees come in, these new guys may push the older people further away from the top. This may be why some of you have not heard any news. It could be because your total score is not above their expectation. They plan to finish last round sometime early in March. So there are only a few more weeks to wait. Wish everyone best luck.

It seems like the only way to get accepted is to hire a computer guy to hack into the system and do some slight change on the excel sheet. I happen to be a computer guy

That is completely unethical...btw, I have a good friend named George Washington, and an even better friend also named George Washington, who would like to meet you 😀

If you can do that, you have many better places for you, believe me.

dont know if this is sarcasm, but I was kidding. By George Washington, I meant $1 bills...paying him for his computer hacking.
