So, I've been getting a little sloppy with writing my secondary essays 🙁 I applied to waaaay too many schools and I'm loosing secondary steam. I feel like my latter essays have been just blah.

My question is has anyone had an experience where the interviewer brought up your responses to secondary essays during your interview? Do Adcoms just speed read through your secondary essays and then grant an interview/wait list/reject? Do interviewers get a copy of your secondary or just your primary?

Thanks in advance 😀

Good Luck to all those applying this cycle! :luck:

Depends on the school, prions. Some have open file interviews where the interviewers clearly have read your file front to back and memorized every single comma, while others have closed file interviews and don't know a single thing about you.

And some schools black out your MCAT and GPA but can see all your activities and essays.

I only had 4 interviews, and at each one, they had a copy of a both my primary and secondary apps. They also had spent a moderate amount of time with my apps, since they seemed to know who I was and were prepared for me before we even got started. (So remember to thank them for spending the time to go over your file!) At one interview, however, I had the "formal interview" at which my interviewers had no access to my applications. It was kind of to put everyone on even footing. But before the formal interview, there was a separate "file review" where there was one person who had access to application materials, and asked mostly about grades and GPA.

How many personal statements do you generally have to write for secondaries??

It depends on the school.

For example:

Western's has two essays, both about 500 words (one page single spaced).
DMU has no essays and can be completed in 5 minutes.
AZCOM and CCOM have one essay, 500 words or less and you have to attach your CV.
KCUBM has one essay (and a bunch of other short response questions).
LMU has two essays.
A.T. Still University (both branches) has two essays (each one 500 words or less).
LECOM (both branches) has two essays (each one 500 words or less).

Oh well that's alright I guess. I thought it would be a lot more. I do realize it depends on the school though. What is DMU?
