MCW is interviewing 52 applicants for 2 spots. Does this seem like a lot? Is this common for all programs? At this rate I'll need to go on 25 interviews to match.

that does seem like a lot. i thought 15:1 was a common ratio amongst places where i interviewed...usually, schools dont drop down past their top 5-6 candidates. if you have a bunch of interview offers and arent too excited about a place like MCW, maybe you could forego that interview and save some time and $$$.

Isn't that like a 1/3 of the applicant pool? This seems like a lot.

Anybody know how many interview offers Mayo Jacksonville extended? They have NINE interview days for one spot..seems like a ton.

Oh yeah. That's not at all uncommon. Most I've seen is 30 interviewees for 1 spot. Course at some of the high powered places (ie MDACC), their ratio is more like 5:1.

T is right 5:1 to 30:1 is about the range. Lowest I went on was Northwestern, which was 8:1 for two spots, and highest was >30 for 1 spot at a few places.

MCW does seem to interview a lot ... Nice program, I think it's worth going to the interview. All it takes is one ...

Well, last year they only interviewed 12 people and did not fill their spot. So my guess is they will be interviewing several more people this year. It is definitely a lot more dates than last year. But some places only interview 2-3 people per date...

I'd thought I'd update this thread. It seems useful in determining where to interview and is also interesting. Please feel free to update/correct if you can.

it would be nice if you guys could highlight the new additions to the list, instead of people having to go back and figure it out...

You can find the number of spots each program is taking in the match on the NRMP website.
