I was wondering if anyone had any great tips or strategies for a successful interview esp. in front of a Director of Pharmacy in a hospital. I usually get really nervous and intimidated when interviewing for hospital positions. Not really sure why though. I read up on interviewing in books and then I practice but it's still no help. Also, did anyone know what hospital pharmacy directors are looking for in a strong candidate? I'm probably not impressing them with my answers.

Having interviewed many many pharmacists, do you know what impresses me? It's not the clinical knowledge or the vocabulary I have to look up.

It's the attitude..honesty..and willingness to learn and be a part of the team.

And common sense.

I will hire a brand new grad who is willing to work any shift I assign...and complete projects..over a so called clinical pharmacist with a clip board who only wants to work monday through friday 9 to 5.. and walk around the hospital thinking their BM don't stink.

You should hire me in the future then 😀 🙂
But that's true. My director interviewed a newly grad last week and after the interview she told the Assistane director that she never received a question from the interviewees asking: "If I need help for whatever task, I can just call the techs to do it right?" Then, yesterday I found out that that applicant was not offered the position...
