I just thought maybe I would throw this out there. But what is the most appropriate interview style for PT school? I am asking because I have interviewed at 3 schools already, (waiting for decision from one still) but was wait listed from one and denied the other.

I feel that I gave good answers for all the questions, (i talked about my healthcare experiences alot with this being my strong point) but looking back I feel that I get very nervous during these interviews and I tend to become more formal then personable. So maybe this is my problem? I need to be more personable/not clam up my true self or get bogged down by being formal? But then again it's a professional interview.... Or maybe I just suck at interviewing. =\

More background on my stats:
Ptcas gpa: 3.09
Cgpa at a 3.3
Pre req GPA (varies by school) about 3.3-3.4
Gre/ 150v/149q, 4.0

And working 6 years as tech at the same office, with more than 3 other pt settings, lots of volunteering and pre pt club treasurer.

Why can I get in anywhere!!

Here's my other question,
Do you think that once an applicant gets an interview then what do most programs access at that time. I am asking because some people at my last interview I was talking with had higher gpas then mine. So then does this mean they would be picked/preferred over me?

Thanks everyone and good luck to all!

It is always discouraging when you can't get into schools that you really want to. My question is did you apply to schools where your gpas match the average accepted gpa from previous years? Did you diversify the schools you applied to where some where a lock from the get go that you would get into and then others were more competitive and longer shots because of stats? With that in mind, your chances of getting in go up. You may still be denied by some, but you should get looked at by others. Schools that accept 3.8 applicants on average is harder for a 3.3 person to get into. Things will work out, esp if you are getting interviews etc.

Define "formal" and let's take it from there.

You can be formal and be yourself. You're not going to take or act the same way in every setting. I was not as personable during the interviews, sitting there in my suit, and answering hard questions. I wouldn't be too casual. I would use good English, and give them succinct answers. Don't "beat around the bush." Just answer the question. Avoid verbal pauses, "um, well, you know" which only clutter your answer.

I was denied at several places I interviewed so don't despair. My last interview was my best, and that school accepted me.
