Interviews in January

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
It does happen. I think i got one or maybe two in January. The problem with these invites is that you're startign off really far down their list of desired applicants. Thus, it's be tough to overcome this and actually end up being ranked highly enough to match at the program.

It was many moons ago (4 years), but I interviewed all but 1 program in January. A few had several dates and I just picked the latest one due to my schedule, a few got offered the first week or so of Jan.

It's true though, that you're usually lower on their list if you get offered a January interview. But when I applied, several programs opened a new jan date because their normal dates got booked so quickly.
good luck!

not true...some programs limit their nov and dec interview dates d/t holidays and generally being nice...i know that we opened an extra date in Jan because we wanted a few special applicants and this fit their schedule.

Clarification: Are you asking about a) interview DATES in January or b) interview OFFERS in January.

Being offered an interview in January is somewhat late for most programs, and as such you'll probably be lower on their list already (because more desirable candidates were offered interviews earlier, and enough of them cancelled to open up a spot for you).

On the other hand, having an interview date in January is very common. Most of my interviews were in January. November interviews are really early and not generally offered, December interviews are usually limited by the holidays, so I would think that most people do most of their interviews in january. This in no way is detrimental to match success.
