So, whats the scoop? I've been hearing "this" and "that", but not sure whats going on. I applied on 09/04 and basically, up to this point I have 3 interviews and 6 rejections, and have not heard from approximately 40 programs. While, I understand some programs do not send a rejection notice, it cannot be all 40 of them. So, am I on a waitlist of some sort? Can I expect anymore invites? And, would now be an appropiate time to contact programs I have not heard from?

Oh, and to anyone who may know, is this year more competative than last year for EM as far as applications received?

Thank you,

CJ

you might be so good on paper that they're scared you won't rank them highly so they decide not to waste an interview spot on somebody above their program. maybe check in next week to let them know you're not too good for them? i have no idea this is just a guess

Some programs waited until the deans letter to come in, and are still going over applications. Invites go out throughout November, and some even in December. Hang in there!

Are there programs you haven't heard from that are listed on the rejections thread? If there are then I'd say no news is good news.

I'm in a similar position. I'm still waiting on some programs. It definitely makes me scared. I got one rejection so far but what happen to the other 12 schools? I keep checking my email but nothing.

Hey guys,

What is the best way to go about asking a program about your application? If we have waited a sufficient amount of time, and am planning on calling the program, is there anything in specific I should say to help my application chances?

Thanks

I emailed a program I was very interested in and had not heard back from. Told them I was very interested in the program and had not heard back. Could I get an update on the status of the application. They responded by the end of the day saying it would be reviewed again by the admission comittee and I would hear back by the end of the month.

Also, one school told me they hold on to apps and as people cancel they invite applicants that were not invited during the initial wave of invites. Meaning no rejection is a good thing
Luck to all.

this is true, there are a few...just wondering when no news = rejection without a notice

Call them...There was confusion on one of my applications and when I called the program because I didn't hear anything from them they discovered the mistake. Show interest in their program and don't be shy 🙂

No, if they reject you, they reject you. Now it may be that they are either a) waiting for something else (another letter, etc), or b) you are in the middle list, the one where people get picked when the first batch declines interviews.

I am with you though, 9 interviews, 2 rejections, and 18 WHERE ARE YOU PEOPLE AT.
